This is very probably an AU, although there's not enough known about Inuyasha's early life or the time of their father's death to require it to be one, at least for this chapter. Inuyasha's physical age doesn't change over centuries, so I imagine he looks only slightly younger, although this happened a long, long time ago. Despite Sesshoumaru calling him a 'boy,' there is no intention of shota/chan.


( A deluge of rain from earlier that day had drenched the earth of the garden. Trees still dripped crystalline tears; the koi pond was swollen and stirred up with gilded silt. The chrysanthemums, heavy from that shower, bent like bowing maidens where they had not fallen to muddy their fragile cheeks against the earth. )

I've been wanting to come back to this journal, some new fandoms and some old ones. It's been a year or so, but I re-read a bunch of my old Christmas card short fics and would love to do that again this year, though it may be closer to New Years due to my move. If, and I totally get it, nobody's monitoring this anymore, I think I'll do a big "things my friends like" amalgamation fic and see where it takes me.

The last chapter of Kateikyo Hitman Reborn was positively the most S&M fight I have ever seen. First we have a beautiful blond man who uses a whip, then we have Hibari, who is always talking about 'disciplining' and 'punishing' people... and now his Vongola box weapon is handcuffs.

They're just begging me to write fanfic.

Also, I spent all day yesterday making collages, and while they're all really awesome and I can't wait to work with them, none of them really fits what I most needed... helping me organize thoughts to start prewriting for NaNoWriMo.

if dreams are sweeter than this rubber talon against the groin that life is - why is it some days they hover on the edge of nightmares, leaving your body cold and afraid to drift back to sleep again, just like losing - and why are some nights warm with the satisfaction that has not come for years, and revelations that seem true on waking, "he would do that!" but in houses with floorplans that are not normal and secrets that never end...

It's by no means rare or unusual to see the Seven Deadly Sins used as a thematic element or trope in movies, TV, books or comics. Somehow, there are still new and fresh ways to use them so it avoids getting stale (usually). But I have noticed a very weird trend when it comes to the Seven Deadlies in anime. Two for two on the very visible uses of this theme, the characters assigned to Sloth are actively sadistic psychopaths. They are more likely to cut your face off than the Wrath characters.

Damn. Well, if I have any watchers left after all this 'no, I'm really back' and then long absences, the trick is that I really thought I'd be switching journals -and informing you all, of course- but in fact I just decided that this journal has sentimental value and the handle isn't -too- tacky. So back I get.

You know, I think I get inspired to fanfic by the oddest things. First Solipsism and Founders Fic, and now a random reference in the Elric Saga by Moorcock... the beginnings of Melnibone. There are no canons, so it's hardly fanfiction, just the epic and really potentially dark and dirty story of a war between Princes of the Balance, and those who are so ambitious they would compromise and sell their souls to a Duke of Chaos to survive...
